theatrical_muse community and Douglas "Doug" Ramsey, a.k.a. Cypher. I'm not making any money from what is only a writing exercise. Cypher is a character from the X-Men comics- and movie-verses. All images used for the character are photographs of actor Layke Anderson, who played Cypher in X2.
CHARACTERISATION: Doug's background mainly corresponds to Movieverse canon. He attended Xavier's school, and was one of the X-kids captured by Stryker and subsequently freed by the X-Men. Some elements of his background, including his powers, his family, his personality, and his feud with Magneto, are taken from comicsverse.
POWERS: Doug is, essentially, a superpowered linguist. He can read, write, and understand any language - human, alien, or computer. He can also speak any language that he is physically capable of imitating. He has no offensive or defensive powers, and physically is only as strong/fast/flexible as a normal, healthy, athletic young man.
THE STORY SO FAR IN T_M CANON: Doug has graduated from Xavier's school, and is living in a very sparse apartment in NYC, while working as a model. He is in a steady relationship with John Allerdyce (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif)
john_ispyro), who he ran into during a conference on Providence. [locked]He is also being forced to work for a shady branch of law enforcement who are attempting to gather evidence against the Brotherhood.[/locked] In the future, he is considering studying Criminology at Hudson University, or entering the police academy. In the House-of-TM-verse, he was a New York City cop involved with Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing. However, he doesn't remember any of it (and is quite shocked at the idea of dating anyone who wears tights for a living).
